Camera obstacle alerts for vessel bridge crews

A marine camera sends images over PoE Ethernet to onboard software that tracks contacts and issues guard-zone warnings. Bridge crews review the augmented view and recorded positions when assessing nearby traffic or obstacles.

About Camera obstacle alerts for vessel bridge crews

An augmented camera view gives bridge staff another way to examine the surface contacts around their vessel. Sea Machines supplies AI-ris, a camera and processing system that detects, tracks, classifies and locates targets in the recorded scene. The system presents those contacts alongside the selected visual and audible warnings for the crew.

The camera uses Power over Ethernet, which carries its image connection and power through the cable, to the onboard processing arrangement. Embedded computer-vision software analyses the images and highlights detected targets on the displayed view. The user selects guard zones that define the included warnings. Compatible display connections present the camera view, and the processor provides the specified Ethernet, serial and CAN interfaces for configured integration. The selected recording function retains video and tracked contact information for later review.

Bridge staff assess a highlighted object, its relative position and the available traffic context when deciding what action to take. Recorded imagery and positions can be examined after an event or used during crew training. The system supplements the vessel's other navigation information with its processed view of the camera scene. The installation brings the camera, processor and compatible screen into the bridge workflow used to review nearby contacts.

How it works
