Physical fibre threat detection for network operators

Communications infrastructure needs attention when nearby work changes its condition. Optical signatures bring classified events into a command view, helping staff locate the affected route before a field check.

About Physical fibre threat detection for network operators

Communications operators need to locate physical interference around their optical-cable routes. Prisma Photonics turns existing fibre into a distributed sensor through the PrismaCyber solution. Classified acoustic events and associated positions reach the command centre, giving network operations staff a view of represented digging, access-point openings or cable tampering.

An optical interrogator, the unit that sends and measures sensing light, connects to a suitable single-mode dark fibre. Reflections from its light pulses provide changing signatures along the selected cable. Machine-learning and mathematical analysis classify chosen patterns and associate them with the represented route. The monitored fibre supplies the sensing path, while compatible central-system integration transfers selected information and alarms to the operator's existing tools.

Staff examine events around handholes, manholes, cabinets or nearby excavation before planning a response. Selected analysis also follows optical-fibre tapping and other physical tampering signals. The shared command view concentrates those classified events and their locations across the represented network. Operators compare the warning with planned work, inspect the affected infrastructure and arrange the appropriate field action. The resulting route context helps the team focus its investigation on the reported physical condition.

How it works

Sense
Read acoustic signatures along the selected communications fibre.
Connect
Pass optical reflections through the interrogator to analysis tools.
Analyze
Classify digging, access-point and selected tampering patterns.
Act
Alert staff to inspect the represented physical network location.

Questions and answers

Does Prisma Photonics inspect network packets in this communications application?

No. The selected application follows physical activity around the fibre route, using distributed signatures to classify interference.

Which access-point events can Prisma Photonics identify?

Selected analysis covers opening handholes, manholes and cabinets, alongside chosen cable-tampering patterns.

Does Prisma Photonics require a separate detector on every communications cable point?

The chosen arrangement uses an interrogator connected to suitable existing dark fibre, providing distributed measurements along that monitored path.

How can Prisma Photonics physical-route events reach existing operating tools?

Compatible central-system integration supplies selected represented information and alarms for the operator's chosen workflow.

How is this deployment priced?
