Electricity metering and billing for utility teams

Electricity meters return usage through compatible gateways and cellular connections to utility data platforms. Teams validate the readings, pass them into billing and review the corresponding customer and network records.

About Electricity metering and billing for utility teams

Collecting electricity readings through a connected meter system gives utility teams a common input for billing and operating analysis. Esyasoft combines advanced metering infrastructure with a head-end system, meter data management and utility billing software. The selected arrangement connects installed meters to processing and customer operations through the utility's agreed interfaces.

Compatible meters use the selected local connection and gateway protocol. A DLMS gateway supports meter communication through RS485 and returns data over supported cellular services, while an all-in-one model also supports selected Euridis and M-Bus devices. Gateway power comes from the appropriate AC supply with built-in battery backup. The head-end system manages communication with the meters, then the meter-data platform collects, validates and processes the returned readings.

The utility billing system uses the processed records for metering, billing and collection activities. Customer indexation maps and verifies the represented customer-to-network relationships, helping staff connect a reading to the relevant service account. Selected analytics examine consumption patterns, energy audits and demand trends alongside the operating record. Teams review an abnormal or missing value, investigate the associated meter or account and carry the accepted data into the utility workflow. The connected process links physical readings with data checks and customer service work.

How it works

Sense
Measure electricity use through the selected connected meters.
Connect
Return meter data through compatible gateways and cellular links.
Analyze
Validate readings and map them to represented service accounts.
Act
Use processed records for billing, reporting and follow-up checks.

Questions and answers

What is the role of the head-end platform?

It manages communication with the selected smart meters and supplies returned readings to the meter-data processing arrangement.

Which meter connection can the DLMS gateway use?

The selected gateway supports DLMS meter communication through RS485, with supported cellular services returning data upstream.

What happens before returned electricity readings enter billing?

The meter-data platform collects, validates and processes the readings, with accepted records passed into the utility billing workflow.

Why does customer indexation matter for a meter record?

It maps and verifies customer-to-network relationships so staff can associate the represented meter reading with the appropriate service account.

What does a deployment cost?

For 1 site with 10 monitored assets in United States, IoT Apps estimates $2,100 – $6,700 in the first year and $200 – $800 every year after. This is an estimate based on comparable deployments, not a quote from Esyasoft.
