Electricity metering records for utility operators

A head-end platform collects energy, technical and billing profiles from supported meters over cellular links. Utility staff review reading completeness, manage device groups and pass records into meter-data systems.

About Electricity metering records for utility operators

Electricity-meter data collection from Apator supports utility reading, accounting and device-management work. 4GRID is the head-end system that acquires profiles and operating events from supported meters. It can run independently or connect with a meter-data-management system, allowing the collected records to feed established billing and reporting processes.

The primary meter workflow uses encrypted DLMS communication over GSM or LTE. New meters are registered automatically and enter the reading process. The system collects 15-minute energy profiles, 10-minute technical profiles including voltage and current, and daily or monthly billing profiles. It also reads event logs and asynchronous alarms such as meter-cover removal. Missing data from temporary transmission problems is collected again when communication permits.

4GRID View is the web application for checking system status, filtering meter groups and examining readings and event histories. Staff send requests for individual devices or groups, including on-demand readings, parameter changes, contactor operation, tariff updates and meter or modem software updates. Reading statistics show collection performance, while scheduled reports support operational follow-up. Meter support, cellular service and downstream accounting arrangements determine how the installation uses these collected records.

Questions and answers

Which profile intervals does the collection system handle?

It collects 15-minute energy profiles, 10-minute technical profiles, and daily or monthly billing profiles.

What happens to readings missed during a transmission problem?

The system automatically fills missing data after periodic communication problems when the records become accessible.

Can remote requests address a whole meter group?

Yes. Requests can target individual meters or groups, including readings, parameter configuration, contactor control, tariffs and supported software updates.

Must the head-end system be paired with an MDM platform?

No. It can integrate with meter-data-management systems or operate as a standalone head-end solution.

How can a team price the collection rollout?

Every page carries a cost estimate by IoT Apps for your own sites and assets; set your budget and invite Apator to confirm a price and lead time.

What does a deployment cost?

For 1 site with 10 monitored assets in United States, IoT Apps estimates $2,100 – $6,700 in the first year and $200 – $800 every year after. This is an estimate based on comparable deployments, not a quote from Apator.
