Tree-mounted monitors measure smoke and changing environmental conditions, sending readings through LoRaWAN or 4G LTE. Ranger teams receive notifications and review recorded events when preparing forest checks.
Instrumented forest locations connect changing environmental conditions with the teams responsible for checking them. DODOTiK’s DODO FireSentinel places rugged monitors on trees to collect readings associated with smoke, temperature and humidity changes. Ranger teams review these measurements and the notifications generated by the monitoring service when deciding where to investigate.
The tree-mounted unit measures smoke particulates, temperature, humidity and infrared values. Its detection functions consider temperature spikes and humidity drops alongside smoke measurements. LoRaWAN or 4G LTE carries readings from the monitor to the cloud. A tree bracket supports installation, and solar power with a rechargeable battery supplies the unit. The connected measurements provide a continuing record of conditions at the monitored location, which staff can compare with earlier readings during their review.
Cloud records and event notifications bring these changes into the ranger team's operating view. Push notifications, SMS messages and the platform display convey events for follow-up. Dashboards retain measurement histories, and a REST API passes records to other operating tools. Rangers examine the location involved, review the recorded change and prepare an appropriate field check using the available measurements.
