The challenge

What operators are up against

Hotels, resorts, and hospitality properties depend on conditions and assets that change between scheduled inspections. Lost visibility as assets move may emerge without a clear indication of which site, zone, or asset needs attention. Clinical engineering, facilities, and care teams often rely on manual readings and disconnected systems, making it hard to compare current conditions with normal operation. This delays response and increases the chance of downtime, waste, safety exposure, or service disruption.

The solution

How Digi RetailConnect addresses it

Digi RetailConnect collects location, movement, and asset-status signals across hotels, resorts, and hospitality properties and sends the readings to a secure cloud application. Dashboards and configurable rules show current location, movement history, and status, retaining history by site, zone, or asset. This gives clinical engineering, facilities, and care teams the context to recover, dispatch, or rebalance assets, helping them reduce search time and improve asset use and document the response.

How it works

The retail solution uses Digi’s portfolio of cellular and wireless routers (e.g., EX50, EX15, IX20, IX10), console servers, and Edge/RF tools to connect retail terminals, signage, kiosks, and POS hardware. Devices are deployed in stores, outdoor signage locations, or branches. Connection redundancy (multipath, cellular failover) is built in to ensure continuity even if one network path fails. Security features include network segmentation, PCI compliance, encrypted communications, and remote monitoring via Digi Remote Manager. The platform allows OTA firmware updates, monitoring of connectivity health, remote configuration, and deployment scaling. Used in storefronts, retail chains, kiosks in malls and points-of-sale terminals, digital and outdoor signage, lottery terminals, ATMs, and remote pop-up stands. Especially valuable where wired connectivity is unreliable or expensive, where signage and POS must operate continuously, and where brands must deploy consistent service and security across many locations.
