Pick to light guidance for warehouse teams

Battery indicator tags receive commands over a mesh network and light up the selected stock location. Warehouse staff use the visual cue during picking, with web controls or software interfaces selecting the required tag.

About Pick to light guidance for warehouse teams

A warehouse team needs a visual way to identify the item or container selected for the next task. BlueUp provides a mesh-based pick-to-light arrangement using battery tags with LEDs. The installed network connects the indicators to software that selects the required tag, bringing the visual cue into a warehouse or production workflow.

Each participating asset carries a single-colour or multicolour LED tag. Multicolour indicators add another way to convey the chosen operating information. Battery-powered anchors form a distributed mesh network throughout the area, and a gateway connects them with software installed locally or in the cloud. Staff issue LED activation commands through the web interface or an HTTP application interface. Those commands can come from the arranged warehouse management or production application. Tag location can also be included in the deployed workflow.

Operators use the illuminated tag to identify the selected item while completing the assigned task. System staff establish the association between stock, indicators and application commands, then commission the mesh coverage across the working area. Web access supports direct indicator selection, while the application interface brings the same function into existing task software. Teams review the layout and tag associations as storage locations change, keeping the visual selection workflow matched to the operation.

How it works

Sense
Identify the selected asset through its assigned LED tag.
Connect
Pass indicator commands through the installed mesh gateway.
Analyze
Match the requested tag and selected indicator colour.
Act
Illuminate the chosen item for the warehouse operator.

Questions and answers

Can the indicator tag use more than one colour?

Yes. Single-colour and multicolour LED tag options are available, with colour used for the chosen operating information.

How can warehouse software turn on the selected LED tag?

The control software accepts LED activation commands through its HTTP interface, as well as direct web controls.

Must the indicator control software be hosted in the cloud?

No. The software can be installed locally or in the cloud.

Do the tags and mesh anchors need electrical cabling?

The described arrangement uses battery-powered tags and anchors, with a gateway connecting the mesh network to software.
