RAILOX

Three-axis acceleration measurements are processed at the rail switch and sent to a dashboard with health indicators. Rail maintenance teams review changes and warnings when planning visits and corrective work.

About RAILOX

A railway switch contains several moving and fixed components that need attention as their condition changes. AXO Track installs sensors at the switch point, frog and other selected locations to measure dynamic acceleration in three axes. The embedded system processes the raw measurements locally, reducing the volume that needs to be transmitted from the trackside installation.

Processed results reach the backend through LTE-M or another selected wireless connection. MQTT messaging, a device data exchange protocol, and encrypted connections carry results into the analytics platform. The RAILOX dashboard presents condition information, health indicators and alerts so maintenance staff can examine a developing problem. Results can also be integrated with customer dashboards, data platforms or data lakes through the available interfaces.

Battery-powered sensing modules use a wireless installation suited to existing rail infrastructure. Module selection, attachment points and coverage must match the components being assessed, rather than treating one sensor as a measurement of every switch fault. Backend functions include device management and access rights for separate users or organisations. The resulting warnings and maintenance recommendations support the railway team in deciding where to inspect and when to schedule work, with operational decisions remaining part of the operator maintenance process.

How it works

Sense
Measure acceleration at selected switch components.
Connect
Transmit processed results over LTE-M or chosen radio.
Analyze
Calculate condition indicators from local measurements.
Act
Flag maintenance needs for the railway team to review.

Does it fit your project?

Best suited to

  • Rail infrastructure maintenance teams
  • Switch inspection planners
  • Railway asset operators

You need

  • Selected switch sensing modules
  • LTE-M or selected wireless service
  • Analytics platform access
  • Approved trackside installation plan

Limitations

  • Requires selected component sensor placement

Questions and answers

Where are the acceleration sensors fitted on a switch?

Sensors can be installed at the switch point, frog and other critical components selected for the measurement task.

Does the system transmit every raw vibration sample?

No. The embedded system processes the raw data locally to reduce the volume before sending measurement results to the backend.

Can railway teams use their existing data platform?

Results can be integrated with customer dashboards, data platforms and data lakes through the available interfaces.

How should a switch health warning be used?

The warning and maintenance recommendation help staff decide where to inspect and plan work. They do not guarantee that every failure will be detected or prevented.

How can trackside condition coverage be priced?

Every page carries a cost estimate by IoT Apps for your own sites and assets; set your budget and invite AXO Track to confirm a price and lead time.

What does a deployment cost?

For 1 site with 10 monitored assets in United States, IoT Apps estimates $2,600 – $8,400 in the first year and $700 – $2,400 every year after. This is an estimate based on comparable deployments, not a quote from AXO Track.
