Stadtwerke Dillingen wanted a cost-effective digital network that could improve utility processes, support the energy transition, and enable remote meter reading and additional smart-city applications.

The approach

What ZENNER deployed

Beginning in 2021, the utility and ZENNER expanded a private LoRaWAN network from six to 20 gateways. Connected applications include radio water meters in underground shafts, weather and indoor-air sensors, parking monitoring, and rule-based alerts in ZENNER's B.One element suite.

The results

What changed

The network now supports 9,000 installed sensors through 20 gateways. Twenty shaft-mounted water meters can be read remotely, avoiding manual shaft entry and reducing the time and burden of readings.
